Great observations! I'm interested in all aspects of the paranormal, cryptozoology, UFOlogy, and the unknown in general. But cryptids are where my interest really lies. I grew up in central Ohio (I ended up living in Florida for 11 years, and as of June 2025, I will have lived in Northern California for 13 years). While in Ohio, I had three visual sightings of what I believe were the same sasquatch. I also had other, nonvisual, encounters. Since being in California, my wife and I have seen what we're nearly 100% sure was a juvenile sasquatch right here within the city limits of our (very small) town. We believe that it was raiding a trash dumpster. We also once heard a very loud howl - again, within the city limits - that was not a dog, or any other animal that we could identify. That was heard after dark, and very near our home, which was on the edge of town at the time. We've since moved due to reasons that had nothing to do with the howl - we had a child, and needed more space. We live three miles south of the state border with Oregon. This is prime sasquatch country here.
Scott, I hope you don't mind my follow up note. Your art sure delivers a power-packed visualization of the unknown and anomalous. I'm intrigued by the ongoing nature of your Sasquatch encounters. Perhaps you have an affinity for the cryptozoological?
Scott, Sasquatch reports are fascinating, certainly to include your own.
The apparent relationship, between sightings of Sasquatch and UFOs, goes a long way towards compounding the strangeness of these phenomena. Thanks very much sharing your engaging experiences!
I liked your thought experiment. And perhaps not too far from the truth. Do you know if the Forteans are still recording odd phenomena (beyond Bigfoot?) From what I've been able to gather, the society has been more focused on ETs for a while. I'm particularly interested in the people who show up from countries that don't exist and/or those who have time-switching experiences. Also, the weird rain of things, of course. Keep up the good observations!
Thanks for reading Sara - we’re all fans of your art over here! Not sure if the society is still looking into fish falling from the sky but now we’re curious …
Thanks, that's very sweet! :) With all the weird sky phenomena we've been seeing globally, who knows what's really happening up there. I haven't heard of any "fish drops" lately but who knows.... lol
Sara, Include me as a fan of your terrific art as well! I'm guessing that Charles Fort would be pleased to see how the recognized subject range of anomalies has expanded, over the generations, without the field loosing sight of the odd event- patterns that he detected a century ago.
Reports of people from non-existent countries and of time-switching experiences seem to be among the more elusive of Fortean accounts. Your message has me thinking that the very elusiveness of such accounts might lend well to another thought experiment.
Thank you, Mike! You're very kind. :) And I hope you do that new thought experiment, I'll be looking forward to it eagerly.
Fort has been on my mind because a major character in one of my upcoming books is a contemporary Fortean and his insights are very important to the plot. Writing him was a blast. He meets one of those people from another world and although the book isn't about that, per say, it forms an important part of the plot. That new novel will be out in Q4 of this year.
Sara, Thanks for your encouraging reply. I'm getting started now on research for the thought experiment. Also, I'm joining the line of readers who are waiting for the debut of your new novel in Q4!
Yay! (On all accounts!) And about my books, I have several novels and novelettes coming out this year, including one (where I'm featured) debuting next weekend at the Windy City Pulp and Paper show in Chicago. I'll have all the details in the podcast and associated Midnight Dispatches so keep an ear out for those. :)
I can't wait for the next thought experiment! Keep up the great work! :)
