This is slightly tangental, but B&N is actually doing *exceptionally* well right now -- you might appreciate this article: https://www.honest-broker.com/p/what-can-we-learn-from-barnes-and

I haven't personally dug into much about the alien stuff, but only because I don't know what might be worth my time? Like, seems like that dude that was on the Joe Rogan show ages ago is considered one of the few experts in the field because of his time in area 51 and all the gov weirdness around that?

But, if you put up a list, I'm down to dig through.

(Here's the other hitch for me: like what is even the vetting process for the alien thing because we sure as hell can't trust the gov lol so is there some kind of official council, like...?). And I'm not even asking for like 100% true and verifiable, but like... can I get something at least in the 80% likely true area, because of evidence/science/enough credible witnesses? Like "The Observers' 'So, You Want To Know More About Aliens and Ufos..." ranked list, with brief synopsis/why it should be considered more credible than your average joe calling into a police station high on mushrooms? Just a thought.

Can you tell that I want to believe? ha.

This is a fantastic idea. Maybe a crowd sourced list. We can start by recommending the work of Jacques Vallee or John Keel if you haven’t read either. Passport to Magonia or Operation Trojan Horse.

Don't forget Keel's The Eight Tower or Vallee's Messengers of Deception.

Great article!

They recently opened a new Barnes & Noble in Santa Fe, and they actually had a table with all kinds of interesting paranormal stuff—including a book on UFO encounters in New Mexico. It didn’t last long, though—I’ve been back several times and no sign of those books.

Thanks for the tip, though—I’ll have to check out the “Self Transformation” section. Maybe I’ll have better luck!

Sounds like I'mma go on a book hunt of my own, see if I can pull together one of those guest articles you mentioned. And thank you for the book list - a gift on its own. My local library is sadly lacking in this area, too.

Great stuff. I always take a look at those sections too! I remember seeing Imminent right near the entrance at my local B&N around the time it came out. Have you read Imminent, Encounters or Graff's book? I'm interest but I haven't read yet.

We've read the ones you listed - they were what you'd expect from each - no huge revelations - and I'm not sure I would heartily recommend any of them. Lue's is sort of interesting if you're looking for some inside baseball on all the things he's talked about publicly.

The last good book we read in the UFO, Etc. category was one that might get tomatoes thrown at us ---- The Cult of Alien Gods: H.P. Lovecraft and ET Pop Culture by Jason Colavito. It was published 20 years ago (wow!), so not a new release, but was highly readable and engaging.

Great book by Colavito. Also see: Children of Ezekiel by Michael Lieb

Haven't been to a B&N in I don't know how long. Always disappointed in not finding what I was looking for. And as you wrote, what category the books I was looking for was under. Been spoiled by Amazon, but I still haunt the few remaining used bookstores we have in our area. Can occasionally find a real treasure every so often.

I remember back in the early aughts, , Barn&Noble's monthly physical editions of Maximum Rock and Roll. I still have all my old copies. I WISH they had Fortean Times at my local jawn back then..

Anywho. I juat got 2 new books. One of them is written by youtuber John Levi and it's a good addition for alternative history buffs. Also Podcaster Dan Kristos' Ba'al Busters "Priestcraft: Beyond Babylon".. the book is an instant classic, IMHO. It's dedicated to Bill Cooper and his daughters for God's ages! You can't go wrong.l!!!
