Things We're Observing, June 2024
Our readers write (sort-of), hot takes with Bernie O., and we get zine envy
What the Mail?
We seem to have triggered a lot of our subscribers with our recent request to send us a letter in their best cursive to confirm their subscriptions. Many of you took us up on our challenge.
One thing quickly became obvious: Handwriting is a lost art and most of you people should stick to communicating via emojis.
We’d like to point out two letters that occupied very different ends of the legibility spectrum.
Exhibit A comes from a Southern subscriber who we now believe is a 4 year-old child:
While their cursive has room for improvement, at least they sent in 3/4ths of a Christmas-themed stamp book. That’s as good as gold in these parts. We have no idea what the drawing is supposed to be, but we’re happy with the overall effort shown by our beloved subscriber. It’s going up on the office fridge!
We received a strikingly different missive from reader “D.F.” (below) who absolutely nailed it in the penmanship and coherency categories.
Plenty more of your delightful letters will be featured in upcoming print editions, and a special THANK YOU is on its way to those of you who dropped us a line.
Write to us anytime (we’ll probably write back):

Issue #16 Update
Another tranche of Issue #16 makes its way to mailboxes across the world—except in Alaska or Hawaii. What gives? Where are our non-contiguous U.S. subscribers at? We need boots-on-the-ground high strangeness reports from the most northern and southern states in the Union!
There are three more shipments of this size left to get out the door. Thanks for your patience.
Hey! Whatcha Reading?!
FATE released their latest issue a couple weeks back and it’s a return to form of sorts for the OG high strangeness magazine. One of our founding members was lucky enough to get their piece about the Antics of the Anunnaki printed smack dab in the middle of the issue. Grab a copy if you aren’t already a subscriber!
We’d like you to pay special attention to this absolutely gorgeous UFO comic zine, UFOLOJOY.
It’s one of those products that you see and immediately think, “Damn, wish we’d thought of that.” It’s clever, well drawn, and full of hidden gags and inside jokes that students of ufology will appreciate.
I mean just look at that website! Check out the artwork! It’s everything you’d want in an esoteric and Fortean zine! So, like, don’t just jump ship everyone… there’s room for multiple weirdo mags in your mailbox. And what we don’t deliver in quality or originality, we make up for in price.
We’re also thumbing through some old issues of The Gate that were provided by our esteemed colleague, Bernie O’Connor. The highlight of each is Stan Gordon’s regular column—“Unusual and Unexplained”—that keeps readers up to date on the latest oddities and strange reports that come across his desk.
Speaking of Bernie “I’ll talk to anyone” O’Connor….
Look for a set of interviews to be released in the next week with some very interesting researchers. First off, Bernie chats with FIN365 about his digital recreations of UFO sightings.
From there, the traveling talker sits down with Mr. Mysterious Middle East aka Meedo to discuss all of the high strangeness that manifests in his neck of the woods.
Both conversations are extremely engaging and full of fresh content. Look for them on our website soon.
That’s it for now!
Thanks for reading and subscribing.
I have just came along here today, for the first time in a non-cursive way laugh out loud.
Reading the Observer, I am going to stay and subscribe and take more time to read past entries. I am going to thoroughly enjoy this thank you so much guys.
Oh tidy up the messages on your fridge door
