An Anthropomorphic Look at ET Portals and Cryptid Trailways

Why do unusual creatures insist on visiting our world?

It may prove a real puzzler to comprehend the thinking behind UFOs, otherworldly visitors and high IQ cryptids. Centers of high strangeness are overloaded with reports involving all of them. But an anthropomorphic approach may be useful in unwrapping complex anomalistic environments, including some involving high-density strangeness like Dulce and the Skinwalker Ranch.

By anthropomorphic, I mean looking at these mysteries through human eyes, and not convincing ourselves that interplanetary or interdimensional beings are impossibly alien for us to comprehend. Let’s see if that’s a useful approach to understand places where UFOs, cryptids and the psychic and paranormal all seem to merge.

Colm Kelleher and George Knapp reported their findings on places of high strangeness in 2005 in Hunt For The Skinwalker: Science Confronts the Unexplained at a Remote Ranch in Utah. They concluded that parallel universes sometimes intrude on our own-and in frightening ways. In 2010, Stan Gordon reported his findings in Silent Invasion: The Pennsylvania UFO- Bigfoot Casebook. He documented a strange flap of combined UFO-Bigfoot sightings back in the 1973-74 time-frame. Thoughtful research and investigation on these lines continues. Consider Simeon Hein’s recent Dark Matter Monsters: Cryptids, Ball Lightning, and the Science of Secret Lifeforms, which presents his case that these anomalies make sense if we apply them against modern theoretical physics. If the recounted events were accurately perceived and interpreted, then how do we attempt to get to the “why” that drives such phenomena?

An unapologetically anthropocentric approach is one way. We can look to an amazing array of human cultures dating from prehistory to the present for inspiration. A disadvantage is that they can’t all be considered here in this nine-paragraph thought experiment. We’ll settle, here, for an anthropocentric model narrowly based on factors that are recognizable in highly regulated, environmentally conscious 21st century societies. Let’s apply this model against some UFO and cryptid-centric parallel universe scenarios.

UFO-centric Scenarios

UFOs coming through the portals. There are natural, highly navigable portals between this universe and others. UFOs and crews ride the portals like we steer navigable waterways on earth. The UFOs have no interdimensional stewardship obligations involving the portals. Cryptids, tricksters and shapeshifters also use them to go to and from this dimension as they please. For them, the portals are pristine, unspoiled and wild. For us, they’re a confusing, alarming psychic mess.

UFOs managing the portals. UFO civilizations create or at least manage access to interdimensional portals. They aren’t intended as uncontrolled trailways for interdimensional menageries and intelligent beings. However, certain allowances are made for limited free-range spillover into this dimension. But for such interdimensional quality control efforts, our planet would see a lot more anomalistic weirdness than it does.

Cryptid-centric Scenarios

Cryptids invasive or just camping. The portals are natural trailways used by visiting or migrating critters/cryptids as well as UFOs from parallel universes. Flaps of cryptid sightings might be linked to interdimensional migratory patterns. We see more or less of them, depending on the change of seasons in and between connecting worlds. Some of the intelligent “cryptids” visit on extended camping trips. Think of Bigfoot as an adventure travel tourist who likes to go roaming in Earth’s wild places.

Cryptids in interdimensional habitats. Cryptid appearances aren’t seasonal or accidental. There are animals and intelligent “cryptids” that can occupy multiple habitations all at once in adjoining universes. Sometimes Bigfoot lives here and sometimes there. Freshwater “sea serpents” dwell here part time, in landlocked waters on Earth, but sometimes they also swim and spawn in the waters of other worlds.

Framing the phenomena in anthropocentric ways won’t take away the weirdness. But it’s worth a try. We might find that in an odd, otherworldly way some of the weirdness makes sense.
